The Christmas Stars in Tuophema

The village of Tuophema is deep in Nagaland in North East India on the border with Myanmar and it's home to the Rengma tribe. Bizarrely - at least to my mind - the people are predominately Christian. Large Baptist chapels occupy the skylines of local villages. At Christmas time red stars are hoisted on long bamboo poles, many illuminated with a lightbulb. The birth of Christ is marked in this very distant land.
